Knockerballs on display at Smith Lake Park last weekend

CULLMAN – Cullman County has seen many new businesses in the past year. One business, Knockerball of Cullman, provides a unique recreation for people of all ages. Managed by William Peek, Knockerball provides large inflatable balls that people can climb into and either bounce around for fun or play specific games with a twist. Peek has had the business since December and has made an appearance at Smith Lake Park's Memorial Day Festival, among others. He hopes to set up booths at other community events like the 4th of July celebration or the Sweet Potato Festival.

Knockerballs are incredibly versatile in terms of the activities they can be used for. Peek listed off games like Knocker Soccer, King of the Square, and even said he was looking into purchasing water slides that can also be used with the balls.

"People can do just about anything with them," he said.

For some games, like Knocker Soccer, the company will provide the necessary accessories for the game: nets, game balls, boundary cones, etc.

Knockerballs can be used on just about any flat ground – a grassy field, a basketball court, a gym floor – and can be used by almost anybody. Younger children may have trouble using them because of the ball sizes, but it is possible to put them in larger balls and simply have the adults help them roll around. For parents who are hesitant to have their younger kids playing in the balls, Knockerball also offers an inflatable bounce castle.
