CULLMAN – It was the quarter-final round of the 2016 6A Soccer State Playoffs Friday night as Cullman welcomed Decatur to the Cullman Soccer Complex, but for the Cats, it was just another day at the office.

The top-ranked Bearcats made easy work of Decatur, dropping the Red Raiders 4-0 and advancing to the semifinals in Huntsville.

After several shots on goal by Cullman, Brazilian standout Guilherme "Gui" Albuquerque got the Cats on the board with 12:59 left to play in the first half when he slid a perfect shot across the face of the goal and found the far side of the net for the goal. Less than three minutes later he would score again as he went low to the ground and slid the ball past the keeper on the near post to give Cullman the 2-0 lead at the half.

The second half was the Miguel Tizapa-Robles show. Following a yellow card for a hard tackle, Tizapa-Robles launched the free kick over the head of the keeper for the third goal on the night for the Cats. He would also tack on the fourth and final goal for Cullman on a penalty kick that was the product of an illegal tackle in the box with less than six minutes left to play. Cullman secured the victory and their spot in the semifinals to face the winner of Pelham and Southside, who play Saturday.
