HOLLY POND – Monday night was supposed to be a matchup between the Holly Pond Broncos and the West Point Warriors but it more closely resembled a three-point clinic. Both teams combined for nine long balls in the quarter including 18 of the Broncos 23 first quarter points coming from downtown. After the dust had settled, Holly Pond held a narrow 23-21 lead.

The second quarter was much like the first with both teams shooting exceptionally well. Midway through the quarter Holly Pond went on a 6-0 run, but West Point quickly retaliated and stayed even with the Broncos. The only difference in the quarter was a single free throw by Drew Jones that extended the Bronco lead to three, 43-40, heading to the half.

Holly Pond opened the third with a flurry of offense, going on a 14-2 run to push the lead to 15. West Point flight back but could not overcome the Bronco run and found themselves in an 18-point hole going to the fourth.

The Warriors were down but not out in the fourth. When they got within 10 points, West Point decided to foul and make Holly Pond beat them at the free-throw line, which they did, closing out the game by a final score of 90-76.

In the first regular season game after returning from Christmas break, the Holly Pond Lady Broncos looked a little sluggish much to the chagrin of head coach Scott Adams. However, his team quickly settled down and took control of their game against the visiting West Point Lady Warriors.

After establishing a 12-point halftime lead, Holly Pond pressed the issue and the Lady Warriors, causing turnovers and easy points. The Lady Broncos went on to take the game by a final score of 55-35.
