CULLMAN – The Cullman Post Office had their best success yet in breast cancer stamp sales and has the community of Cullman to thank for their achievements in raising awareness and funds. The Cullman Post Office ended up 2nd in the state, 5th in nation, had a total of $27,544.80 in breast cancer stamp sales and increased their stamp sales by $10,401.30 from last year.

Caressa Doss, postmaster of the Cullman Post Office said, “We just want to thank Cullman and the community for the support.” Post office clerk Regina Hood said that the more awareness there is, the more the sales go up, and the more they are able to donate to breast cancer research. She said that within the past three years, their sales have come from nearly nothing, to reaching around $17,000, to now reaching almost $28,000 this year. “In the last couple of years the state of Alabama has come a long way,” she said.

We just want to thank Cullman and the community for the support.” – Caressa Doss, Cullman Post Office Postmaster

Hood added that it is easy for the community to be so willing to participate because the money goes to such a good cause and is used directly for breast cancer research. She said that the awareness of breast cancer in Alabama is so widespread because everybody has family, someone they know of, or even a friend that has breast cancer.

“It was all due to the businesses in Cullman and individuals buying the stamps through the month of October.” She said that the businesses really boosted their sales and also wanted to recognize the efforts of all the carriers that work for the Cullman Post Office. “It makes us feel good to see people involved in it and helping with it,” Hood said. The efforts of support and gratitude will not go unnoticed. Be sure to go by the post office, congratulate them, and get ready for next year’s breast cancer sales to reach even higher!
