CULLMAN – The American Red Cross is offering free classes and demonstrations in preparing emergency disaster-ready kits for the public. Local churches, companies and organizations are welcome to contact the local Red Cross office to set up a demonstration by calling 256-734-0921.

Disaster Mental Health/Community Educator for the Cullman area, Denise McClendon, said, “We have community education programs for all ages. It covers emergency kits and other preparedness issues.”

The class lasts approximately 30 minutes and Denise is willing to help any type of group.

“We also want to train church groups to be shelter workers. The training can be done in four hours,” she said. She added that if you would like more information on preparing a disaster-ready kit, visit redcross.org and search ‘Be Red Cross Ready’.
