HOLLY POND, Ala. –  Holly Pond hosted the Vinemont Eagles in a region matchup  between county foes, and the Eagles headed back across the county with a 54-14 victory.

The Eagles stuck early after the first play. A big pass from Josh Rhodes to Jaxon Marotz set the Eagles up with a first-and-goal. With 9:30 remaining in the opening quarter, Rhodes raced in from 2 yards out to give the Eagles a 8-0 lead. On the third play of the Bronco drive, Kaleb Speegle intercepted the pass and raced back 25 yards for a touchdown to put the Eagles up 16-0 with 7:33 remaining in the first quarter.

Holly Pond went three and out on the ensuing possession and on the first play of the drive,  Rhodes connected with Lukas Ming for an 87-yard touchdown to put the Eagles up 22-0 midway through the opening quarter.

On the first play of the second quarter, John Hamby put Holly Pond on the board, cutting the lead to 22-6. With four minutes to go until halftime, Karson Arbet put the Eagles up 30-6 with a 9-yard touchdown scamper.

Vinemont was set up with a short field thanks to a fumbled snap on the punt, and the Eagles capitalized when Rhodes found Marotz for a 12-yard touchdown to put the Eagles up 38-6 with 48 seconds remaining until halftime.  Speegle set the Vinemont offense up with another chance before halftime with another interception and return, putting Vinemont 20 yards from the end zone. Two plays later, Rhodes found Preston Hanners for a 20-yard touchdown as time expired in the first half to send Vinemont to halftime up 46-6.

Late in the third quarter, Hamby scored from 30 yards to cut the lead to 46-14.

Midway through the fourth, Brennan Marlow scored on a 16-yard run to put the Eagles up 54-14.

Vinemont got the ball back when Deacon Foell recovered a fumble. The Eagles ran out the clock enough so Will Conquest was able to come on the field to take a QB kneel on the final play of the game.
