CULLMAN, Ala. – The City of Cullman Planning Commission met on Tuesday, Sept. 1, to address Ordinance No. 2026-42, which would prohibit the development and operation of data centers in city limits. However, the agenda item was withdrawn, and no discussion took place.
On Monday, June 22, the Cullman City Council adopted Resolution No. 2026-116, which imposed a temporary moratorium on data centers. And Ordinance No. 2026-42 was addressed, though no action was taken. The Council said it would need to refer to the Planning Commission on the ordinance.
A letter was sent to the Planning Commission on Aug. 24, from Cullman City Clerk Wesley Moore, asking for Ordinance No. 2026-42 to be removed from the Planning Commission’s Sept. 1 meeting agenda. The letter stated, “Additional time is needed for review.”
“A quorum is not present today, therefore the Cullman Planning Commission cannot take official action or vote on any agenda items during this meeting,” Planning Commission Chairman Michael Sullins told those in attendance Sept. 1.

The next City of Cullman Planning Commission meeting will be held on Oct. 6, at Cullman City Hall at 5:30 p.m.
