HANCEVILLE – Wallace State Community College has announced the hiring of Jammie Lett as the new head coach of the Lions’ men’s golf program, adding one of Alabama’s most accomplished PGA professionals and golf instructors to its athletics staff.
A PGA Member with 25 years of coaching experience, Lett has built an impressive reputation for developing golfers at every stage of the game. From beginners taking their first swings to PGA Tour professionals, his teaching philosophy has consistently produced success while emphasizing long-term player development both on and off the course.
“I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to lead the Wallace State golf program,” Lett said. “Golf has been my life’s work for 25 years. As a PGA Member, I’ve coached PGA Tour players, state champions and hundreds of junior golfers, and I can’t wait to pour that experience into developing these young men, both as players, students and as people. This is a special chapter and opportunity, and I don’t take it for granted. I want to build on the already incredible history that the Wallace State program has. Go Lions!”
Throughout his coaching career, Lett has guided golfers at nearly every competitive level. His extensive résumé includes teaching a future Masters champion, four AHSAA individual state champions, regional and national amateur competitors, NCAA Division I players, collegiate conference champions and professionals competing on both the PGA Tour and Korn Ferry Tour.
Lett has also enjoyed tremendous success at the high school level, coaching back-to-back AHSAA Class 5A state championship teams while helping numerous players continue their careers at the collegiate level.
His teaching philosophy centers on long-term golfer development, focusing on building sound fundamentals while tailoring instruction to each individual’s strengths. Lett is also known for embracing new technology and innovative coaching methods, constantly searching for better ways to help golfers maximize their potential.
That commitment to innovation and player development has made him one of the state’s most respected instructors and positions him well to lead Wallace State’s men’s golf program.
As head coach, Lett will oversee all aspects of the Lions’ program, including recruiting, player development, practice planning and tournament preparation. His vision extends beyond producing competitive golfers, with an emphasis on helping student-athletes grow academically, personally and athletically during their time at Wallace State.
Lett inherits a program with a strong tradition of success and believes the foundation already in place will allow the Lions to continue competing at a high level while attracting talented student-athletes from across the region.
With decades of coaching experience and a proven track record of developing champions, Wallace State expects Lett’s leadership to continue the program’s tradition of excellence while preparing the next generation of Lions for success on the golf course, in the classroom and beyond.
