Funeral services for Susan Dawn Collins-Whitehead, 55, of Dora will be 2 p.m. Friday July 24th at Laodicea Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will follow the service at Laodicea Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday July 23rd from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Laodicea Freewill Baptist Church.
Mrs. Whitehead was born November 19, 1970, in Morgan County, Alabama to Bud & Mildred Collins. She passed away July 18, 2026, in Walker County, Alabama.
Susan had a special love for the beach, where she found peace in the sound of the waves and joy in the warmth of the sun. She cherished every opportunity to spend time with her family, who were the center of her world. She adored children and had a natural gift for making them feel loved, valued, and safe.
For many years, Susan found great fulfillment driving a school bus. She genuinely loved the children she transported each day and took pride in ensuring they arrived safely with a smile. Her caring heart and friendly spirit made a lasting impression on countless students and families.
Susan also believed in enjoying life’s simple pleasures. She loved treating herself to getting her toes and nails done, always appreciating those little moments of relaxation and self-care.
She will be remembered for her warm heart, her dedication to her family, her love for children, and the joy she brought to those fortunate enough to know her. Though she will be deeply missed, her love and the memories she created will remain in the hearts of all who loved her.
Susan leaves behind a family who will forever cherish her memory and strive to honor the love, kindness, and compassion she shared throughout her life.
Mrs. Whitehead is survived by her husband, Adam Whitehead; children, Anna Whitehead Melton, Abram Whitehead, Abbie Whitehead; grandchildren, Aiden Melton, Maverick Melton; sister, Phyllis Collins; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Whitehead was preceded in death by her parents, Bud & Mildred Collins, and her brother, Bobby Collins.
Serving as pallbearers will be Dalton Lee, Michael Holt, Branden Holliman, Terrell Vines, Grant McGill, and Taz Bartlett.
