Jesse Donald “Don” Greer Sr., 85, was born on January 18, 1941, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, and passed away on July 6, 2026. A resident of Hanceville, Alabama, he carried with him a steady strength—one shaped by hard work, resilience, and a faithful heart that remained devoted to the people he loved most.
He spent part of his early years in Alabama and attended Comer High School in Sylacauga. His determination and discipline carried him onward to the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, where he earned an athletic scholarship for swimming—an early reflection of the grit and perseverance that would continue to define his life.
Drawn by curiosity and a willingness to learn, Jesse built a career in the computer industry, first working for a Texas-based company that deepened both his knowledge and his appreciation for the field. That passion eventually led him to open his own business. He owned and managed Money Tree ATM’s in Alabama for many wonderful years, offering not only service, but also the kind of thoughtful presence that made people feel seen and valued.
Later, after relocating to Cullman, Alabama, he worked at Warehouse Discount Groceries—less out of necessity than out of love for community and the everyday connections that mattered to him. Known to many as “Mr. Don”, coworkers and customers alike came to know him as a memorable, loyal presence: generous with his time, quick with a dry remark, and grounded in a wisdom that never needed to announce itself. His humor—often understated, always well-timed—was part of what made him so unforgettable.
In his home life, Jesse’s devotion showed in quiet, consistent ways. He carried a positive outlook that helped him meet each day with courage, and he was known for stepping in wherever he could to lighten the load for his wife, offering steady support with kindness and care.
He enjoyed keeping up with political media and the conversations that came with it, and he was a dedicated Alabama football fan—always ready to share that enthusiasm with those around him.
Surviving are his loving wife of 35 years, Lawanna Greer; his sons, Jesse Donald Greer Jr. and Christopher Scott Greer; his daughter, Wendy Westdyk; and his grandchildren, Jordan Westdyk, Julia Westdyk, Kristen Westdyk, Lindsay Haswell, and Allen Greer.
