CULLMAN, Ala. – Two Hanceville women were sentenced Wednesday in Cullman County Circuit Court, including one woman sentenced to 20 years in prison in chemical endangerment cases and another sentenced to 42 years in connection with a 2022 armed robbery.
Cullman County District Attorney Champ Crocker said the sentencing hearings were held Wednesday, April 29, before Circuit Court Judge Chad Floyd.
Camila Maria Moctezuma, 29, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for two chemical endangerment cases from 2021 and 2023, according to Crocker.
Court records separately reviewed by The Tribune show Moctezuma was also indicted earlier this year on charges of reckless murder and chemical endangerment of a child resulting in death.
That indictment, filed Feb. 13, 2026, identifies the child only by initials, K.H.M., and alleges Moctezuma caused or permitted the child to be exposed to methamphetamine and amphetamine, resulting in the child’s death.
The indictment further alleges Moctezuma recklessly engaged in conduct that created a grave risk of death to the child and caused the child’s death. The records list both charges as Class A felonies.
Because that indictment appears separate from the 2021 and 2023 sentencing cases referenced by Crocker on April 29, The Tribune is seeking additional clarification on the status of that case and whether it is connected to Wednesday’s sentence.
In a separate case, Deja Bryana Miller, 23, was sentenced to 42 years in prison for the Oct. 8, 2022, armed robbery of the 291 Shell, Crocker said.
According to the district attorney’s office, Miller was on bond in two felony cases at the time of the robbery.
Crocker said both defendants had previously entered blind pleas. A blind plea is a guilty plea entered without a negotiated plea agreement with the district attorney’s office, leaving sentencing to the court.
“My staff and I worked very hard on these cases, along with the Cullman County Sheriff’s deputies and investigators who brought them to us,” Crocker said. “We are keeping our word to reduce the backlog, seek justice and make this community safer. I hope the message is clear that violent crime will not be tolerated in this circuit.”
Publisher’s note: The PDF indictment lists the separate death-related allegations against Moctezuma, including the reckless murder and chemical endangerment child death charges, and shows the warrant was issued in February 2026. Â
