ADDISON, Ala. – Addison senior Kiah Lake signed a scholarship with Bevill State in front of a large group of family and friends at Addison High School. Kiah will play baseball for the Bears whom seem to grab a Bulldog every year.

“I am just grateful to be able to continue to play baseball, a game that I love, and be able to further my education. I hope to make the starting pitching rotation my freshman year but it will be difficult because of the talent that Bevill has. Even though I am primarily a pitcher, I can also play third base and first base so I do bring a little versatility,” Lake said. He added, “I know when I visited Bevill’s campus, it was nice and I really felt at home. I have some friends on the team right now and Head Coach (Steve) Woodard played pro ball (MLB) so I can learn a lot from him, especially about the art of pitching and what mindset you need to have day in and day out.”

When asked about what he brings to the Bears, Kiah said, “I am a hard worker and absolutely love the game. I will do whatever the Coaches need me to do and will try and be the best teammate that I can be.”

“I would like to thank Coach (Lee) Williams for all that he has done for me while I have been at Addison. He took a young kid that didn’t have a lot of confidence in my abilities and helped me believe in myself. The coaches and teachers here really helped me grow as both a player and as a person. We (the baseball team) still have some things to accomplish here so this year is not done yet.  We play South Lamar on Thursday and I hope to pitch well in the second round of the playoffs,” Lake said.

“I just want my parents (Heath and Mandi) to know how much I appreciate them.  I mean they have sacrificed so much for me to be able to live out my dreams. They gave up their time and money to drag me all over the state to play ball. I just want them to know that it didn’t go unnoticed and I want to thank them. They both are great,” Kiah said.
