CULLMAN, Ala. – A Cullman man on April 13, 2026, was indicted on charges of murder, abuse of a corpse and tampering with physical evidence. Randall Dewayne Hogan, 70, is facing the charges in connection with the April 2, 2020, disappearance of Vinemont resident Jeffery Glenn Wilhite, 59.

Hogan was originally arrested in connection with the case following an Oct. 30, 2023, grand jury indictment for murder; however, shortly before his November 2025 trial date, the State dismissed the case without prejudice, leaving the door open for it to be refiled, based on newly discovered evidence.

In May 2025, while out on bond, Hogan was arrested again for violating the terms of his pre-trial release.

Following his May 2025 arrest, Cullman County District Attorney Champ Crocker shared, “This defendant was granted a bond back in 2023, which we opposed under Aniah’s Law. Last week we filed to revoke his bond because he was arrested for a new offense. We had a contested revocation hearing on Monday and Judge (Emily) Johnston revoked his bond and jailed him.”

Under the terms of his April 2026 indictment, Hogan will be held without bond under Aniah’s Law.

Aniah’s Law, named after 19-year-old Aniah Blanchard, is a state constitutional amendment passed in 2022 that allows judges to deny bail for certain violent crimes (e.g.,  murder, robbery, human trafficking, etc.). Blanchard was murdered in 2019 by a man who was out on bond on charges of attempted murder, kidnapping, robbery and assault in an unrelated case.
