CULLMAN, Ala. – Cullman Police Department Sgt. Adam Walker has completed a three-part law enforcement leadership program and earned the FBI-Law Enforcement Executive Development Association Trilogy Award.
The department announced Walker’s accomplishment and recognized his continued commitment to professional development and leadership.
The Trilogy Award is presented to law enforcement professionals who successfully complete FBI-LEEDA’s Supervisor Leadership Institute, Command Leadership Institute and Executive Leadership Institute.
The three programs are designed to provide leadership education for officers serving at different levels of responsibility within an agency.
Each institute is a four-and-a-half-day course, amounting to approximately 13.5 days of leadership training across the full Trilogy.
The courses may be completed in any order, although FBI-LEEDA recommends progressing from the supervisory course to the command course and then the executive course because each builds on concepts addressed in the earlier programs.
The Supervisor Leadership Institute is intended primarily for first-line supervisors and middle managers. Its curriculum includes supervisory leadership, professional credibility, law enforcement liability, discipline, behavioral leadership styles and leading employees from different generations.
The Command Leadership Institute is designed for officers serving in or preparing for command-level positions. Topics include team building, ethical decision-making, resilient leadership and working with challenging employees.
The Executive Leadership Institute focuses on issues facing senior law enforcement leaders, including public trust, procedural justice, strategic planning, officer wellness, recruitment and retention and future trends in policing.
FBI-LEEDA describes the three-course series as a comprehensive leadership education intended to help participants develop a stronger leadership identity and apply the principles within their agencies.
The organization established the Trilogy Award in 2009 to recognize individuals who completed all three leadership institutes.
FBI-LEEDA is a private nonprofit law enforcement training association and is not part of the Federal Bureau of Investigation or acting on the bureau’s behalf.
Its mission centers on advancing law enforcement leadership and improving management practices through education, training and professional networking.
According to CPD, the Trilogy program equips law enforcement supervisors with skills to lead personnel, strengthen teams and better serve their communities.
