Cookie (Cullman County Animal Shelter)

CULLMAN, Ala. – Cookie is an Australian Shepherd mix with a calm personality, a love for simple moments and a quiet need for reassurance. She’s The Cullman Tribune Pet of the Week.

Estimated to be around 5-6 years old, she has a medium energy level and does well on a leash. Cookie enjoys being brushed and settles easily into a relaxed pace, making her a comfortable companion both at home and on the go.

What sets Cookie apart is how closely she connects with people. Shelter staff said she often stays near when she’s out in the yard, especially if someone sits down nearby. She will come over, lean in and quietly snuggle beside you.

“She just wants to know she’s a good girl,” a volunteer shared. “When you tell her that, you can see her confidence start to come back.”

Because of her temperament, Cookie would be well suited as a therapy companion, a steady hiking partner or a loyal everyday friend. She has the kind of balanced personality that adapts easily to different lifestyles.

Cookie is already spayed, so her adoption fee is only $35.

Visit the Cullman County Animal Shelter at 935 Convent Road NE. It’s open Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Contact the shelter at 256-734-5448 or cullmananimalshelter@co.cullman.al.us.

If Cookie has already been adopted, many other dogs and cats are still available at the shelter, each waiting for a second chance.
