CULLMAN, Ala. – Sportsman Lake Park held its annual Easter Egg Hunt early Saturday morning, April 4. This long-standing tradition keeps growing each year. The free event took place at the park playground and welcomed children of all ages for activities, photos with the Easter Bunny and lots of candy.
“We put this on every year for probably the past 20 years,” said Cullman Parks and Recreation Marketing and Events Coordinator Sarah Morgan. “We always make sure it’s a free event. The Easter Bunny is always here to see all the kids and take photos, and we have all age divisions come out and have a good time.”
In all, 3,000 eggs were hidden around the playground for kids to find. Even though the eggs didn’t have prizes inside, families enjoyed giveaways and connecting with others in the community. Cullman Regional Medical Center, the event sponsor, hosted a booth and handed out free items.
Besides the egg hunt, families could also enjoy the park’s attractions like the train ride and putt-putt golf.
Morgan said more people have been coming each year, with bigger crowds every spring.
“It’s gotten bigger and bigger every year,” she said. “We’re definitely going to have to do something different next year to accommodate everything.”
