COLONY, Ala. – The Colony Town Council gathered for its regular meeting on Tuesday, March 10, where Mayor Jasmine Cole announced that there is a website in the works for the town. No timeline was given, but expect an update in the future.

The meeting proceeded with reports from standing committees. Starting with finance, the council discussed a revised road repair budget. At its previous meeting on Feb. 10, the council received the audit report to review. Councilman Michael Johnson motioned to approve, and it was seconded. The motion passed.

Councilman Jerrold Flanigan, for the police and fire committee, stated, “There is nothing major to report.” He mentioned that additional cameras will be discussed at a later date.

Cole told the council, “The storm shelters will need to be pressure washed.” Councilwoman Lewanda Johnson said the town should put out a bid for the work.

Councilwoman Mallonee Hall, reporting on sanitation and utilities, stated, “I want to thank the folks on cleaning up. See you next month on clean-up day.”

The council was advised by Town Clerk Gwendolyn Purifoy that a voting delegate needed to be chosen to represent Colony at the Alabama League of Municipalities annual convention business meeting. Current delegate Parker nominated Flanigan, with a second from Councilwoman Johnson.

The council addressed Resolution No. 2026-1 and approved its Transportation Plan.

Mayor Cole advised the council that there will be a second meeting this month on Tuesday, March 24, at 6 p.m. at Colony Town Hall. The public is welcome to attend.
