BOAZ, Ala. – After picking up a huge county win at home against West Point on Friday night, the Fairview Aggies hit the road for a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon against the Boaz Pirates and the Moody Blue Devils. The Aggies dropped the first game to the Pirates, 11-7, and in their second game of the day against Moody, Fairview got out to an early lead. Moody, though, took over after that, scoring the final 10 runs of the game, as they would go on to knock off the Aggies, 10-2.

Fairview got things going offensively in their opening at-bats. Camden Cullen got hit by the pitch to lead off the game, then Conner Scott hit a single to center field to put runners on first and second with nobody out. A walk loaded the bases, and Cullen scored on a double play ball to give the Aggies the early lead. Three pitches later, Scott scored on a wild pitch to make it 2-0. Moody, though, countered in their half.

The Blue Devils took advantage of some sloppy Fairview defense to tie the game up at two, and an RBI double later that inning gave them a 3-2 lead. Moody added to their lead in the bottom of the second, as an RBI groundout, an RBI single, and a two-run home run pushed their lead to 7-2. The Blue Devils hit a pair of RBI singles in the bottom of the fifth and drove in a run on a fielder’s choice in the sixth to put the finishing touches on a 10-2 win over Fairview.

Scott collected the only hit of the game for the Aggies, and he, along with Cullen, scored both runs in the game for Fairview (7-5).

The Aggies’ road trip will continue next Monday afternoon, as they will go to Cold Springs.
