Vinemont council greenlights road projects, Vinemont Sports Complex batting cages pavilion

    VINEMONT, Ala. – The Vinemont Town Council held its regularly scheduled monthly meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 3, with members approving several infrastructure improvements and community support items during the session. 

    Council members approved a series of capital and maintenance projects aimed at improving town facilities, roadways and public safety services. Among the items approved was the replacement of three bay doors at the Vinemont-Providence Volunteer Fire Department, with material costs totaling $7,380. 

    The council also approved a comprehensive street paving and striping plan covering multiple areas throughout town. Striping work was approved for Federer, Roberson, Johnson, Nesmith, Kelley, Virginia, Lipsey, Oakley and County Road 1297 at a cost of $4,527. Paving projects include Oakley Street at $23,112 and Lipsey Street at $11,114, along with an overlay and striping project on County Road 1296 in front of newly constructed homes within municipal limits for $19,125. Additional roadway repairs include work on Park Drive, totaling $4,690. 

    Additionally, the council approved adding 15 new parking spaces behind the storm shelter at the Vinemont Community Center at a cost of $24,400. Altogether, the approved paving and roadway improvements total $86,968. 

    Council members also approved a $500 direct support donation to the Vinemont Anchor Club, recognizing the organization’s role in serving and supporting local students. 

    In recreational improvements, the council approved funding for a pavilion to be constructed over the batting cages at the Vinemont Sports Complex. The estimated cost for the project is $40,000 and is intended to provide weather protection and improved usability for athletes and families. 

    The meeting concluded with updates on upcoming events: 

    • The next senior citizens’ community luncheon will be held at the Vinemont Community Center on Feb. 16, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. 

    The next meeting of the Vinemont Town Council will be held at Vinemont Town Hall. The work session will begin at 5:30 p.m., with the regular meeting to follow at 6. Vinemont Town Hall is located at 36 Patton Dr.
