Cullman City Schools announces 2025–2026 Teachers of the Year

CULLMAN, Ala. – Cullman City Schools on Friday announced its five Teachers of the Year for the 2025–2026 school year.  

“These outstanding educators represent the very best of the profession and exemplify the dedication, skill, and passion that define teaching excellence in Cullman City Schools,” the district said. “As school-level Teachers of the Year, these educators are now eligible for consideration as Cullman City Elementary and Secondary Teachers of the Year and may advance as one of the 16 finalists for Alabama Teacher of the Year. In recognition of this distinguished accomplishment, each honoree will receive a $1,000 award from the Cullman City Board of Education.” 
 
“Being selected Teacher of the Year is huge for our educators. This honor derives from the nomination of peers, parents, and stakeholders,” Superintendent Kyle Kallhoff said. “When you are the Teacher of the Year in one of the top school systems in Alabama, that speaks volumes about your level of dedication and commitment to this wonderful profession.” 

 
2025–2026 Cullman City School System Teachers of the Year 

 
Cullman City Primary School – Caroline Tidmore 
Caroline Tidmore is a dedicated educator and a true leader at Cullman City Primary School. With 10 years of classroom experience — one year in first grade and nine years in kindergarten — she leads her pod with encouragement, positivity and an unwavering commitment to providing the best possible kindergarten experience for every child. 
 
East Elementary School – Lacy Cameron 
Lacy Cameron has devoted her entire 21-year teaching career to East Elementary, where she teaches fifth grade. She has taught every subject and, in recent years, has focused exclusively on math — an area in which fifth-grade students have consistently ranked among the top performers on the state summative assessment. Cameron earned National Board Certification in Elementary Literacy in 2015 and was recertified last year. 
 
West Elementary School – Kristy White 
Kristy White is one of the most seasoned educators at West Elementary School. She approaches each school year with the enthusiasm and energy of a first-year teacher and is well known for challenging students to develop a lifelong love of reading and literature. 
 
Cullman Middle School – Morgan Johnston 
Morgan Johnston has been named the 2025–2026 Cullman Middle School Teacher of the Year, recognizing her distinguished career and outstanding service to the school community. Now in her 17th year in education, Johnston has taught grades 6, 7, 9, 10, 11 and 12, bringing exceptional versatility and experience to her students. 
 
Cullman High School – Michelle Greenlee 
Michelle Greenlee has been honored as Cullman High School’s Teacher of the Year for her exceptional work as a chemistry and physics teacher, as well as a cross country and track coach. Known for her unwavering dedication, Mrs. Greenlee brings science to life in ways that inspire curiosity, confidence and achievement in every learner.
