
CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman County Board of Education (CCBOE) held its final meeting of the year on Thursday, Dec. 18, approving a full slate of items.
Board members approved the Nov. 13 meeting minutes and approved school-related requests, including supplemental pay for athletic and extracurricular duties, after-school enrichment programs, tutoring services funded through grants and committee appointments for the 2025–2026 Sick Leave Bank.
Approval was given to provide stipends to staff members who hosted FAFSA parent meetings after hours. The payments are funded through a College and Career Readiness grant.
Out-of-state field trips for cheer teams from Vinemont High School, Fairview High School and West Point High School were approved, with all groups traveling to Orlando, Florida, for national cheer competition. No general fund money will be used for the trips.
The board approved October 2025 financial statements and October bills and payroll totaling more than $18 million.
There was a change order for the West Point High School multipurpose facility, reducing the project contract by more than $152,000 and bringing the adjusted total to approximately $1.35 million. Maintenance department bids, including a systemwide HVAC filter and service contract, were also approved.
The board adopted a new policy on vape awareness, education and prevention, developed by the Alabama State Department of Education to address student use of vaping and alternative nicotine products.
Superintendent reports included upcoming calendar reminders, noting the end of the first semester on Dec. 19. Students will return on Jan. 6, with report cards going home Jan. 9. County schools and the central office will be closed Jan. 19.
The next regular CCBOE meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 15, with a work session beginning at 3:30 p.m.
