CULLMAN, Ala. – The superintendent of the Cullman Wastewater Treatment Plant was arrested Wednesday, Dec. 17.
Shannon “Jake” Calloway, 38, is charged with two counts of aggravated criminal surveillance.
The Cullman Police Department said Calloway was arrested “at the Cullman County Jail (Detention Center) on outstanding warrants.”
Court records for the case are not available in Alacourt at press time.
The City of Cullman said in a statement, “We are aware of the arrest of Shannon ‘Jake’ Calloway, Superintendent of the Cullman Wastewater Treatment Plant. The City is cooperating with the City of Cullman Police Department & the Cullman County District Attorney as they conduct their investigation.”
According to Alabama Code, “A person commits the crime of aggravated criminal surveillance if he or she intentionally engages in surveillance of an individual in any place where the individual being observed has a reasonable expectation of privacy, without the prior express or implied consent of the individual being observed, for the purpose of sexual gratification.” It is a Class C felony.
Back in September, the Cullman City Council recognized the Cullman Wastewater Treatment Plant for achieving top ranking in the state among facilities using bio-filter/trickling filter systems. It presented a plaque to Calloway for the achievement.
