CULLMAN, Ala. – The crown(s) returned Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025, when, for the first time since 2019, the Ms. Senior Cullman County Pageant was held. The winners were 2025 Ms. Senior Cullman County Sheri Rasco and 2025 Ms. Super Senior Cullman County Mazzie Twilley. Both will compete in the Ms. Senior Alabama Pageant in June 2026.
The pageant, held in the Fairview High School auditorium, was open to “Seniors,” aged 60-69 and “Super Seniors,” aged 70-79.
Pageant Director Gidget Gregory told The Tribune in September, “There have been 22 ladies crowned Ms. Senior Cullman County, with the last one being in 2019. After several ladies expressed interest in bringing it back, a new pageant board was formed. Because of the five-year break, the theme of this pageant is ‘The Crown Returns.’”
Cullman County Commission on Aging Director Stephanie Lawson said this year’s event was long overdue, and she was truly thankful for everyone who had a part in bringing it back.
“Director Gidget Gregory and the board did a phenomenal job,” Lawson said. “All the contestants worked hard and I believe their inner beauty only enhanced their physical beauty. I am already looking forward to next year. Also congratulations to the winners — Mazzie and Sheri.”
Reigning Ms. Senior Alabama First Alternate Angie Carter said she wishes every woman could experience the incredible sisterhood that comes with participating in a senior pageant.
“I’ve met some truly wonderful ladies,” Carter said, “one of whom has become one of my dearest friends. These pageants are wonderful experiences.”
Gregory said she didn’t know what to expect since it had been over five years from the last Ms. Senior Cullman County Pageant; however, she said, she was blown away.
“The contestants were a joy to work with and the pageant couldn’t have happened without them,” Gregory said. “They brought so much enthusiasm and worked so hard at every workshop. As far as the spectators, they supported their favorite contestants and showed up cheering loud and proud. One family even had shirts made with their favorite contestant. I think someone even came from Florida to support a contestant. I’d like to thank all the board members who contributed in any way, again the pageant was a success because of them.”
Gregory said there were over 200 people in attendance.
“I would like to mention that over $4,500 was raised from the People’s Choice Award,” Gregory said. “This money will benefit Flourish of Cullman and Santa for Seniors at the Commission on Aging. I want to specifically recognize Mazzie Twilley, who won Ms. Super Senior Cullman County and Sheri Rasco, who won Ms. Senior Cullman County. These queens will compete at the Ms. Senior Alabama Pageant in June 2026.”
