Sherrell Sherman Johnson, a devoted and adventurous soul, passed away on November 4, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on November 1, 1938, Sherrell was a loyal resident of Hanceville, Alabama.
Sherrell was a man of many passions, including hunting, fishing, and storytelling, pursuits that he enjoyed throughout his life.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann Johnson, and his children: daughters Anita (George) Nunn and Paula (Jack) Crank, and son Gary (Kristi) Johnson. Sherrell also leaves behind his brother, Dan (Jan) Johnson, and stepchildren Jason (Tracey) Burney, Julie (Steve) Sharpton, and Dewayne (Alicia) Burney. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marjorie Johnson, grandson Shawn Bartlett, and granddaughter Shaylynd Hurst. Sherrell was blessed with 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at Livingston Chapel Church, located at 16609 County Rd 222, Crane Hill, AL 35053, on November 7, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. This will be followed by a funeral service at the same location at 1 p.m.
Sherrell will be remembered for his adventurous spirit and unwavering loyalty to his family and friends.
