PREP FOOTBALL: Cold Springs falls at Falkville, 28-22

FALKVILLE, Ala. – The Cold Springs Eagles made a quick trip to Falkville to cap their regular season against the Blue Devils, and the Eagles lost a nail biter on the road. Cold Springs trailed 20-14 at halftime and took a 2-point lead in the final seconds of the third quarter but a late score from Falkville allowed the Blue Devils to edge out the Eagles 28-22.

Falkville scored late in the first quarter to take an 8-0 lead, but Cold Springs responded when Ayden Black ran in a rushing touchdown to trim the lead to 8-6 going into the second. Another Falkville touchdown made it a 14-6 game early in the second quarter but a rushing touchdown and two-point conversion by Tycen Kilgo tied the game at 14 with 4:32 remaining in the second quarter. The Blue Devils tacked on another touchdown just before halftime to take a 20-14 lead at the break.

Cason Alexander ran one into the end zone late in the third quarter to give Cold Springs a 22-20 lead at the start of the fourth, but Falkville found the end zone one more time in the final frame to secure a 28-22 win over the Eagles.

With the loss, Cold Springs finishes the regular season 6-4.
