ONEONTA, Ala. – Vinemont traveled to Oneonta to take on the Redskins in a region matchup. The Eagles put up a valiant effort, but fell 35-8.
Vinemont’s defense came out on fire, allowing one first down to the Redskins on their first three drives.
Early in the second quarter, Oneonta busted out a big run to put the Redskins up 6-0.
On the ensuing possession, Vinemont was forced to punt but the punt was muffed by the return man and the Eagles pounced on the ball. With 5:06 remaining in the first half, Josh Rhodes capitalized with a 2-yard run to put the Eagles up 8-6.
Two big plays by the Redskins sent them to halftime up 21-8.
With 4:28 left in the third quarter, Oneonta added to the lead, 28-8. They found the endzone once more, early in the fourth quarter, to make the score 35-8.
The Redskins attempted to take on a late field goal, but the Eagles blocked the attempt and recovered it for a touchback.
Vinemont was able to run out the clock and finish the game with the ball in their possession.
