CULLMAN – The Cullman County Fair officially kicked off today at 5 p.m. with a flag-raising ceremony, as well as a ribbon cutting. The event included various community leaders, including District Judge Kim Chaney, Cullman County Sheriff Matt Gentry, Cullman City Police Chief Kenny Culpepper, Cullman County Commissioner Kerry Watson and Cullman Mayor Max A. Townson.

Members of the Cullman Lions Club expressed thanks to Drinkard Development and the Burks family for allowing us to use their property for the new parking lot, which should mean no one will have to park by the Sportsman Lake this year.

Also, for the first time, exhibitors will be selling their merchandise. “This has been a long time coming and we are hoping that this is going to work out for many years to come,” stated the announcer.

Thanks were also given to the Peinhardt family for the use of their animals at the Tri-Green Barn.

The fair will feature a remodeled concession stand and is said to be attempting deep-fried orange rolls from the All-Steak restaurant this year.

Entertainment will be provided by Grandpa Ratchet, Tall John the Clown, and blue grass singers who will be walking around the fairgrounds; programs will still be held in the Coca-Cola Theater.
