WEST POINT, Ala. – West Point stayed within a point of Hamilton midway through the first quarter, but the Aggies pulled away for a 48-13 victory in Class 4A, Region 7 play.
The Warriors opened the game with possession, but their first drive ended on downs after an incomplete fourth-down pass.
Hamilton struck first on its opening possession, scoring on a long touchdown pass to take a 7-0 lead.
West Point answered with a touchdown midway through the first quarter, but the extra-point attempt missed, leaving the Warriors trailing 7-6.
Hamilton scored again before the quarter ended. Its extra-point attempt failed, making the score 13-6.
The Warriors’ next possession ended with a punt, and Hamilton followed with another touchdown midway through the second quarter to extend its lead to 19-6.
The Aggies continued to build their advantage, taking a 35-6 lead into halftime.
West Point added one touchdown in the second half, while Hamilton scored twice more to finish off the 48-13 victory.
West Point (0-8, 0-5) will travel to Lawrence County on Friday, Oct. 16.
