MIDFIELD, Ala. – Cold Springs built a 21-point halftime lead and defeated Midfield 28-8 on the road Friday night, Oct. 9, improving to 6-1 overall and 4-1 in Class 2A, Region 5.
The Eagles returned to the win column a week after Gordo handed them their first loss of the season, 35-13.
Friday’s victory also kept Cold Springs unbeaten on the road, with four wins in four away games.
Cold Springs held Midfield scoreless through the first half. The Eagles led 15-0 with 6:46 remaining in the second quarter and carried a 21-0 advantage into halftime.
Midfield cut the deficit to 21-8 in the third quarter, according to the Tribune scoreboard’s quarter-by-quarter reports.
Cold Springs extended its lead to 28-8 in the fourth, and the school confirmed that score as the final.
The eight points allowed marked the fourth time this season Cold Springs has held an opponent to single digits.
The Eagles previously shut out Vinemont 9-0 and Locust Fork 42-0 before defeating Holly Pond 28-8.
Midfield fell to 2-5 overall and 2-3 in the region.
Cold Springs will return home to host Southeastern in another region game Friday, Oct. 16.
