CULLMAN, Ala. – Volume 2 of the Cullman Community Theatre’s Not-So-Scary Stories in the Park will return this weekend on Sunday, Oct. 11.
CCT Tech Director Aaron Johnston told The Tribune that this will be a different demographic than a paid show. It is free for the public to attend and offers a great opportunity for families and friends to enjoy classic literary stories with a spooky twist.
This year’s Halloween show will feature the tale of “Frankenstein” and “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.” Organizers teased that a mysterious favorite from last year, the Phantom of the Opera, will be making his return.
Johnston explained that, while there is order to the stories and scripts are made, it has a “sitcom” feel to the professional theater production.
“We take these stories as a basis and take a spin on a Halloween show where everything goes wrong,” he added.
These shows offer flexibility for families that can’t always sit through a 45-minute to an hour showing. They will be held at Cullman Art Park at 1031 Second St. SW, where there are on-site bathrooms and, of course, playground equipment perfect for burning off energy.
The showings will be held on the remaining Sundays throughout the month, which are Oct. 11, 18 and 25, at 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Admission is free.
