CULLMAN, Ala.- Cullman Community Theatre recently held auditions for “Beauty and the Beast Jr.,” casting the production that will be staged in late October.

Said Savannah Smith Seay, “To say the casting panel was blown away is an understatement.Cullman and the surrounding areas are packed full of talented children.”

She said every child who showed up to audition had a special talent – be it singing or reading for an iconic character. Seay commended the children for showing true courage and maturity to walk into a room and display their gifts.“

A member of the CCT board often explains how casting a show is like putting together a puzzle, their own special shape and design, but each piece has to be intricately placed for the puzzle to be complete. Our panel worked together to create the puzzle that would best tell the‘tale as old as time.’”

She added, “We also looked for the ability to tell a story through singing, speaking and movement.”

Because of the pool of talent, the panel chose to take a fresh perspective on a few components from “Beauty and Beast.” Cogsworth will be brought to life by one of the young ladies in the cast; they will also be incorporating a variety of dance styles and trained fighting techniques to add professionalism and intensity to the show.
