Billy Hugh Phillips, a beloved husband, father, Pawpaw, brother, mentor, and friend, passed away on June 18, 2026, leaving behind a legacy that is larger than life.
Funeral services will be held on June 22nd at 9 a.m. at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow the service at Laodicea Cemetery in Hanceville. The viewing will be on Sunday, June 21st from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Hanceville Funeral Home.
Born on December 25, 1969, Billy was a man known for his incredible work ethic, his passion for cars, and most importantly, his unwavering love for his family. The impact he made on those around him will never be forgotten.
Billy had a lifelong love for restoring old cars and could often be found working on his pride and joy, his “Old Girl” rat rod, before taking it to car shows wherever the road led him. For him, cars were more than machines, they were a way to create memories, connect with others, and share something he loved.
He was one of the hardest-working people many had ever known. Billy was always willing to lend a hand, offer advice, or help someone in need. He was the kind of person who told you the truth, not always sugar-coated, but always with a heart that wanted the best for you. His wisdom, humor, and guidance touched countless lives.
Billy was preceded in death by his grandparents, Billy and Inez Moore; his father, Cephus Phillips; and his mother, Virginia Landmon.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Laura Phillips; his brother, Christopher (Samantha) Phillips; and his children, Savannah (Terry) Farley, Brody Phillips, Dawson (Kaiden) Phillips, Courtney (Brian) Duke, Brittany Sims, and Maddie Oliver. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Tanner, Sophia, Ivy Jo, Walker, Bree, Graisey, and Maisey, who he loved more than life itself.
The hole left by Billy’s passing is impossible to fill. His legacy will live on through the family he loved so fiercely, the people he helped, the lessons he taught, and the memories created along the way.
He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
