Falkville man charged with trafficking fentanyl after I-65 traffic stop

CULLMAN, Ala. – A Falkville man was arrested Tuesday, May 12, after Cullman County sheriff’s deputies allegedly found fentanyl, Suboxone strips and drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop on Interstate 65.

According to the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office, deputies initiated a traffic stop May 12 near the 299 exit after observing a traffic violation.

The driver was identified as John Kristopher Wayne Monfort.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies established probable cause to search the vehicle. The search allegedly led to the seizure of fentanyl, Suboxone strips and drug paraphernalia.

Monfort was arrested and charged with trafficking fentanyl, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

No additional information was immediately released by the sheriff’s office.
