Alabama Audubon has several bird-watching events scheduled for 2026. Two free events will take place  Saturday, April 11.

    Birding at Vulcan Trail

The 2.2-mile Vulcan Trail is located at 1701 Valley View Dr., Birmingham, AL 35209. It passes by the Vulcan statue and museum. The event will take place from 7-11 a.m. Attendees should meet at precisely 7 a.m. beneath the Vulcan statue. Parking will be available at the trailhead, but also at the museum.

The group will be looking for vireos, warblers, tanagers, orioles and more.

    Spring Migration at Chapman Mountain

This event will be located at Chapman Mountain Nature Preserve, 1263 U.S Highway 72 East, Huntsville, AL 35811. This is a migration hotspot for one of north Alabama’s most notorious songbirds. The preserve offers all of the things these birds look for on their migration journey.

This will take place from 8-10 a.m. Attendees are advised to meet under the pavilion of the main parking lot at exactly 8 a.m. From there the group will quietly travel to the water to spot the songbirds.
