CULLMAN, Ala. – Church at The Well hosted its annual chili cook-off, a tradition going on 10 years, on Nov. 16. This year’s event was organized by Family Life Pastors Jeffrey and Ashley Starnes, as well as Pastor Mike Rester and his wife Chare Rester.
The night began with roughly half an hour of chili tasting. There were a multitude of options made by members of the church, but only three winners would be selected. The categories for the chili cook-off were different, classic and unique.
Winner of the different category, with a white chicken chili, was Ashley Starnes.
The classic category, which had the most entries, was won by Kimberly Wilson.
The third, and hardest category, was the unique category. This had only three entries and Pastor Mike Rester cooked up the best of them.
After chili was served, the evening consisted of festive games. The first, and most competitive, was the pie eating contest. There were three teams of four people and each person had to eat an enormous slice of pie. The first team to finish won. The night wrapped up with a game of bingo, followed by a cake walk. The winners of the last two games got to select from homemade cakes and goodies.
