Ronald Lee Seybold departed his early life on November 6, 2025, at the age of 71 to complete his eternal life with his Lord and Savior. Per his request, this is to be a time of rejoicing and celebration of fulfilling life, not to be taken in sadness.
Born on July 22, 1954, in Sullivan, Indiana, Ron grew up surrounded by family and friends who loved him dearly. He learned the value of a life of service at an early age having grown up surrounded by scouting and serving his country in the United States Army immediately following his high school graduation.
Ron was a disabled Vietnam-Era veteran and was so proud of his military service. Upon returning to civilian life, Ron served the elderly and disabled community through employment with the Social Security Administration and returned to his roots in scouting as a Boy Scout leader at the troop, district and state levels.
In 1999, Ron discovered a true passion when he joined the Cullman Lions Club. He was well respected for his dedication, passion and for always and for always putting others before himself. He served in nearly every Lion position within the state of Alabama as well as serving at the international level and was highly decorated for his more than quarter-century humanitarian efforts. Ron served as the Cullman Lions Club mascot for more than 22 years. Ron was honored at the international level with the highest honor bestowed upon a Lion, the International Association of Lions Clubs Ambassador of Good Will Award. He was one of forty Lions Club members throughout the association’s 1.4 million members to be honored as Ambassadors in 2020.
In affiliation with his Lions service, he served as a director of Alabama Lions Sight Conservation Association, director of Camp Seale Harris/Southeastern Diabetes Education Services, chairman of the Alabama Lions High School Leadership Forum, and chairman of the Alabama Lions Past District Governor Organization. Ron was a four-time recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award given for outstanding humanitarian service.
He was an active member of Cullman community, always willing to lend a helping hand and offering words of encouragement. Ron played an integral role in the development of the Cullman Field of Miracles which enabled the physically and mentally challenged to play baseball like the “normal” citizens of Cullman and the surrounding area.
Another one of Ron’s proudest accomplishments was the construction of the Never Forget Garden at Cullman’s Veterans Park in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Tomb of the unknown located at the Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C. This memorial is to honor the ultimate sacrifice of the members of the United States Armed Forces. Ron was a life member if the Disabled American Veterans, University of Kentucky Alumni Association and the Cullman Lions Club.
Through his many accomplishments, Ron was first to let you know it was the Lord that provided him the talents and abilities and utilized him to accomplish the tasks, no matter how small or how large for it is through God that all things are possible. Ron will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, generosity and unwavering spirit and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the JoAnne P. LaGanke Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, 1809 Kress Street, N.E. Cullman, AL 35058 or Cullman Lion’s Charities, P.O. Box 103, Cullman, AL 35056 in his memory. A service to celebrate Ron’s life will be held on Monday, November 10, 2025, at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home, with Bro. Steven Hastings officiating.
