CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman County Sheriff’s Office and Cullman Police Department are getting ready for this year’s Rock the South event, which is coming up June 19-21. The annual music festival attracts thousands to the area.

Cullman County Sheriff Matt Gentry said is department’s no. 1 priority is keeping the community, residents and visitors safe.

”Our deputies will be responsible for the traffic flow in and out of the venue, as well as any citizen-involved issues outside the venue,” Gentry said. “I encourage everyone to plan and know your travel routes, know (and remember) where you park and be aware of what you can and cannot carry into the venue. Most importantly, I encourage everyone to be nice, smart and responsible. Don’t drink and drive. If on foot, be mindful of people’s private property – don’t trespass. Lastly, be nice and courteous to one another. We at the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office want everyone to have a safe and fun weekend. Together, we can make it happen.”

Cullman Police Chief Joey Duncan said there will be dedicated teams working inside the event, including Cullman Police officers as well as officers and deputies from several north Alabama law enforcement agencies.

“Our goal is to help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone,” Duncan said. “Officers will be on-hand to address situations involving intoxicated individuals showing signs of impairment, disruptive behavior, abusive language or unauthorized entry into restricted areas. Those who violate these policies may be asked to leave the venue without a refund or, in some cases, may face arrest at the discretion of law enforcement. To make sure everyone has a great time, we encourage guests to stay hydrated with water, drink responsibly and plan ahead for a safe ride home if needed. Please remember that alcoholic beverages must remain within the event site, as only the venue itself is within the city limits of Cullman. Additionally, extra Cullman Police officers will be on patrol throughout the Rock the South event. Let’s all make smart choices, look out for one another and enjoy a fantastic weekend together!”
