Shirley Kay Faber, age 75, of Decatur, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Decatur Morgan Hospital, with her loving family by her side.

Born on March 19, 1951, in Florida, Shirley was the daughter of Mack “Jack” E. Boyd and Lola Bell White Boyd. She was a dedicated business owner and familiar face in the Decatur community, serving as the owner of Tobacco Road for more than five years after having worked there since the 1980s.

Shirley found great joy in spending time with her family and making memories with those she loved most. She cherished trips to the beach, collecting seashells along the shoreline, and relaxing during weekends at Joe Wheeler State Park, where she enjoyed staying in a riverside cabin surrounded by family. Her strength, resilience, and love for life were evident as she courageously battled illness for the past 17 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Lola Boyd, and her sister, Nancy Lyle.

Those left to cherish her memory include her devoted husband of 54 years, Michael Faber; her daughter, Lauren Boyd Faber; and her beloved grandson, Jacob Boyd Herlong.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Point Mallard Clubhouse at a later date.

Shirley will be remembered for her unwavering strength, her love of family, and the countless memories she created with those she held dear. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Decatur Brown Service Funeral Home is honored to serve the Faber Family.
