HOLLY POND, Ala. – April is Jazz Appreciation Month and the Holly Pond High School Band will host its fourth annual Pops in the Park tonight, Saturday, April 26, from 5-7:30 at Governor’s Park.

Holly Pond Band Director Steven Porter said the jazz band will kick off the evening with some favorite numbers.

“We will also have a few originals, good food and fellowship,” Porter said. “Our sixth-grade band (beginning band) will perform next. Our high school concert band will close the evening with some great music.”

Porter said the band hosts this event every spring.

“This will be the fourth one,” he said. “I have always found that concerts in the park are something special. I play in the evening, around dinnertime. It is a family event.”

No tickets are required. Kona Ice and Alabama Mud Coffee will be on-site and the HPHS Band Boosters will be selling hot dogs and hamburgers.

“The students look forward to this each year,” Porter said. “It is a fun evening. I hope to see you there.”
