VINEMONT, Ala. – The fourth annual Christian Hart Memorial Cornhole Tournament is this Saturday, Feb. 8, at 1 p.m. in the Vinemont Elementary School gymnasium. Registration begins at noon.
Lynn Shaddix and Melanie Hart Shaddix said their son Christian used to play cornhole a lot in the summer when they weren’t at ballgames.
“When we lost our son six years ago, I started an event to raise money for scholarships we give out each year at Vinemont High School in our son’s name,” Lynn Shaddix said. “The money we’ve raised – just guessing – but from the tournament and donations from the school and other individuals is close to $20,000.”
He continued, “There is a social division for people that have played a little or have never played, and there is an advanced division for people that are competitive. The tournament will be at the elementary gym at the Vinemont High School. We do this in memory of our son. He was loved by everyone that knew him – and losing him not only devastated me and my wife it devastated the whole town and neighboring towns.”

- $40 per social team, bring your own partner, using house bags, double elimination
- $50 per competitive team, bring your own partner, bring your own bags, double elimination
- $10 per blind draw, double elimination
