MORGAN COUNTY, Ala. – Morgan County deputies executed a failure to appear warrant on Jan. 28, after John Tillman Flanagan, 36, of Hanceville, failed to show up for court. Flanagan is charged with two counts of first-degree sexual abuse.

The charges stem from a Morgan County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division case involving a juvenile under the age of 16.

Flanagan, who was out on bond, failed to show up for court on Jan. 28, prompting the court to issue the FTA warrant.

Deputies, assisted by the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office, located Flanagan and took him into custody that same day. He was transported to the Morgan County Jail, where he is being held with no bond.

According to Cullman County Sheriff Matt Gentry, Morgan County was the responding agency and was responsible for the arrest. The original crime occurred in Morgan County and that is where the charges stemmed from.

“Being able to collaborate with surrounding agencies and work together is an absolute necessity. I am grateful to have this individual picked up and in custody,” said Gentry.
