Obituary: Frances Youngblood-McNutt

Funeral services for Frances Youngblood-McNutt will be 2 p.m., Saturday, November 16th at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hanceville. Burial will follow the service at Hopewell Cemetery in Hanceville. The family will welcome friends for visitation on Saturday from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church.  

Frances Youngblood-McNutt, age 101, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2024 in Hanceville, Alabama. Born on December 29, 1922, in Greenwood, South Carolina, Frances led a remarkable life filled with service, knowledge, and love. 

A proud graduate of Lander College in 1944, Frances went on to contribute to scientific research as a chemist for the Tennessee Valley Authority in Florence, Alabama. Later, she found her calling in education, dedicating herself to teaching biology at Hanceville High School and Cullman High School, where she influenced countless students until her retirement in 1988. 

Frances is survived by her loving son, John Manly McNutt; daughter-in-law, Leigh Hudson McNutt; grandson, Samuel Manly McNutt; and granddaughter, Emily Ann McNutt.  

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edwin Howard McNutt; son, Kevin Anderson McNutt; parents, Sam Manly Youngblood and Helen Anderson Youngblood; as well as two brothers and one sister. 

Frances will be remembered for her dedication to science, her passion for teaching, and her love for her family. Her legacy lives on in the lives of those she touched and the family who loved her dearly.
