ARLEY, Ala. – The Tigers rode a 7-game win streak into their first-round playoff matchup with Hubbertville and they kept things rolling Friday night with a 14-8 win over the Lions, punching their ticket to round two.

Both defenses came to play in this one and neither offense was able to get anything going in the first half. With the game still scoreless at the start of the third quarter, Hunter Wyatt took a handoff into the end zone for a touchdown to put Meek up 6-0 and the ensuing two-point conversion made it 8-0. Hubbertville hit back quickly, scoring a touchdown and a two-point conversion on the next possession to tie things up at 8 midway through the third.

The score remained tied at the start of the fourth quarter until Wyatt’s second touchdown of the night gave the Tigers a 14-8 lead with less than four minutes remaining. The Lions put together a nice drive and kept the chains moving on the ensuing possession, but Meek’s defense held them out of the end zone on fourth down with just over a minute to play to secure a 14-8 win.

The Tigers extend their winning streak to eight games and they’ll be on the road next week to play Wadley in round two.
