CULLMAN, Ala. – To open Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Cullman County Bosom Buddies Foundation held its annual Little Pink Dress Benefit on Oct. 1 at Cotton Creek Warehouse. The crowd was a sea of hundreds of pink dresses and sequined skirts as the community came together to support the local nonprofit that supports area residents battling cancer.

Guests dined on steak prepared by Stone Bridge Farms while being whisked away by the lively tunes of the Wallace State Community College Jazz Band.

The evening’s event servers were recognizable faces, as the annual “City versus County” tip war continued. “Celebrity” servers included retired Cullman Police Chief Kenny Culpepper, Cullman Police Chief Joey Duncan, Cullman Mayor Woody Jacobs and Cullman County Commissioners Garry Marchman, Kerry Watson, Kelly Duke and Corey Freeman, along with Commission Chairman Jeff Clemons.  Rep. Corey Harbison, R-Good Hope and Cullman County Sheriff Matt Gentry, as well as many other local leaders also acted as the night’s waitstaff, hoping to snag the bag for the Bosom Buddies’ cause.

Between the silent and live auctions, more than 100 items were donated to the foundation’s event.

Silent auction items ranged from a piled-high plate of Grandma Bessie’s fudge to a Coach bag and matching wallet to a Mystery Pink Basket. The live auction items were a bit larger; guests could outbid a tablemate for items and experiences such as a chance to take a four-hour ride-along with a Cullman County deputy, two weekend getaways, a tandem skydive at Skydive Alabama and a $2,000 Marriott gift card.

As of press time, a total amount raised from the LPD event had not been disclosed. An update will be provided when a final number is received.
