BEAR CREEK, Ala. – The Meek Tigers were back on the road Friday night for a regional matchup at Phillips Bear Creek and after falling to Hackleburg last week, the Tigers bounced back with an impressive, 37-8 win over the Bears.

A 50-yard touchdown pass from Evan McCay to Ryan Ewing put Meek in front 8-0 early in the first quarter and the Tigers wasted no time in adding to their lead. An 8-yard touchdown run by Conner Lane made it a 16-0 game midway through the first and Brady Baxter ran one into the end zone from 6 yards out to extend the lead to 23-0 going into the second.

A muffed punt was recovered by Aiden Benson and returned 30 yards for a touchdown later in the second quarter to make it 29-0 and McCay found Ewing through the air again for a 28-yard touchdown to give the Tigers a 37-0 lead at the halftime break.

With the hot clock running in the second half, the Bears were able to find the end zone one time, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the early lead and Meek left Bear Creak with a 37-8 region win.

The Tigers will be back on the road next week for another region matchup at Waterloo.
