Wallace State Men’s Golf 19th in nation; women’s Aidan Haithcock 22nd in nation

HANCEVILLE, Ala. — Wallace State Community College men’s golf finished the season No. 19 in the nation after their appearance at the 2024 National Junior College (NJCAA) Division I Men’s National Championship at Rockwind Community Links Golf Club in Hobbs, NM.

The squad finished 17th in the tournament. The Lions final round of play was their best of the tournament, ending the round at 5 over par, besting earlier team scoring rounds of +15, +13 and +23.

Sophomore Joseph Vinyard of Gardendale completed the tournament tied in 48th place, earning the Lions highest place individually in the tournament. His best rounds were the first and fourth, where he finished even par, and was +4 and +5 in the second and third rounds, respectively. Sophomore Keith Hunter of Ontario, Canada, freshman Cole Lindeman of Priceville, freshman Dillan Wade of Vestavia Hills, sophomore Billy Gunyon of Essex, England, and sophomore Liam Meaden of Noddingham, England rounded out Wallace State’s national tournament team.

The team took second place at the Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) Region 22 Tournament to punch their ticket to the national tournament.

Haithcock 22nd at NJCAA national tournament

Wallace State golfer Aidan Haithcock of Homewood finished 22nd in the nation individually at the NJCAA DI Women’s National Championship. In four rounds of play she came in +4 in the first and final rounds, +6 in the second round and was even for the third round.

The men’s golf team is coached by Sylas Elliot, while the women’s team is coached by J.J. Adams.
