CULLMAN, Ala. – The 10th annual Smith Lake Park Bass Fest will take place this Saturday, Oct. 7. It will kick off at safe light, somewhere between 6:15-6:45 a.m., depending on factors like fog conditions, ensuring safety of all participants.

Cullman County Parks and Recreation Director Doug Davenport expressed his personal goal of reaching 300 participating boats. In the past, the tournament has hosted as many as 290 boats. Safety remains a top priority, and he said he hopes to continue the impressive record of zero injuries throughout the tournament’s history.

Participants can sign up until Friday, Oct. 6, at 6 p.m. at the Cullman County Agricultural Trade Center. There will be a mandatory meeting at that time for all the participants, and food will be served.

One noteworthy aspect of Bass Fest is the inclusion of parent-child teams. These teams, regardless of their final ranking, have a chance to win an additional $500 based on weight in the top 20 parent-child teams. This initiative aims to encourage younger generations to engage in the sport of fishing.

The following prizes will be awarded to the top 40 placements:

  • First Place: $15,000 Guaranteed
  • Big Fish: $500
  • Highest Place Parent/Child Teams: Additional $500 (child younger than 18)
