Wayne was born and raised in Cullman County on the farm where his family currently lives. He has been farming since he was old enough to get up on a tractor. Wayne was a very sufficient farmer knowing how to do mechanical work and welding on machinery or tractors that broke down, building buildings to hold the equipment and raising crops from corn, soybeans, wheat and grain sorghum and raising 3 wonderful sons. Wayne was a loving husband and father to his wife and kids and he loved his grandchildren, family and friends dearly.

Wayne was a member of Mtn. Grove Missionary Baptist Church, served in the Cullman Civitan and was a board member for Traditions Bank. Wayne was an encyclopedia of information and was called upon by many when they had a breakdown or just needed some advice. Wayne was known by many in Cullman County as well as all-surrounding counties and had a host of friends and was loved dearly by all.

Mr. Widner was preceded in death by his parents, Oather “Buck” and Myrtis Marie Widner.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Deborah Widner; 3 sons, Lesley (Paula) Widner, Stacey (Sandy) Widner and Brandon (Kelley) Widner; 4 grandchildren, Levi Widner, Laney Widner, Tillman Rose Widner and Jordan Tuten; 1 great grandchild, Crider Tuten; brother, Milton (Joyce) Widner; sister, Debra (Joey) Watters; chosen sister, Jewel Dean James; and a host of niece and nephews.
