Larry Daniel Farr, of Cullman, Alabama, passed away on April 6, 2023, at the age of 78. Mr. Farr was born in Cullman County, Alabama, to Moses Daniel and Della Velva Bright Farr on March 15, 1945.

Mr. Farr served his country honorably in the United States Army. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in Korea as well. Danny was a member of the Cullman Association of Disabled American Veterans, the VFW, the American Legion, and Sons of the American Revolution.

Danny and his wife of almost fifty-five years, Geraldine Thomas Farr, were members of Duck River Baptist Church where Danny served as a deacon, was on the cemetery board, and also served as a Sunday School teacher. Mr. Farr enjoyed vibrant ties, and his fellow church members looked forward to seeing which tie he would choose to wear every Sunday. Danny was also an Alabama Baptist Associational member. Bible study with fellow believers was an important part of Mr. Farr’s life and he greatly enjoyed worshiping and learning with his church family.

Mr. Farr retired from a long career as an educator. He began his teaching career in Huntsville, Alabama, at R.L. Stone, and later taught in Cullman County, Alabama, at both Welti and Hanceville Schools. Danny also coached girls’ basketball for both Welti and Hanceville. Mr. Farr served as a NEA/AEA teacher and was a member of the Alabama Retired Teachers Association.

In addition to his career in education, Mr. Farr and his wife owned a farm. They row cropped both corn and soybeans and raised cows and chickens. Mr. and Mrs. Farr poultry farmed for over thirty years and Danny was a member and officer of the Cullman Poultry and Egg Association.

In the free time that Danny had, he enjoyed traveling with his wife. They took several trips with other local couples, to numerous destinations across the country, and have many cherished memories of their travels. Mr. Farr also enjoyed a yearly trip to Tennessee in the fall to purchase sorghum syrup and honey from the Amish farmers of the area. Mr. Farr enjoyed antique cars, trucks, and tractors and enjoyed going to car shows.

Mr. Farr was a loyal supporter of the Holly Pond Broncos and Holly Pond Athletics. He could often be found cheering on his children, and then his grandchildren, as they played sports for the Broncos. He was also a judge at the annual Holly Pond Turkey Shoot for over twenty years. Danny was active and involved in the community, and served his friends and neighbors in many ways.

Family was very important to Danny, and he loved being with those he called his own. He adored his wife, and Mr. Farr was very proud of his children, Anita and Danny. He also cherished the grandchildren and great-grandchildren he had been so very blessed with. Mr. Farr was a dedicated husband and father, loving grandfather and great-grandfather, faithful friend, true patriot, and a servant of his Lord and Savior. Mr. Farr truly exemplified a servant’s heart, and he will be greatly missed by many.

Mr. Farr is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dewayne Farr; and sisters, Delma Drake, Delaine Laney, Sharron Woodall.
