CULLMAN, Ala. – The United Way of Cullman County’s third annual Designer Bag Bingo event took place Tuesday at Loft 212. The event is the United Way’s primary fundraiser and supports a variety of local agencies funded in part by the nonprofit. Tickets were $50 each and included dinner and three bingo cards for each round. A total of 15 rounds were played, giving all players a chance to win a designer bag.

United Way of Cullman County Executive Director Waid Harbison stated, “It’s a general fundraiser for us and it goes into our allocations account- 99% of our money stays local and we invest that into partner agency programs, United Way programs. Right now, we are on track to have our biggest financial year we have ever had as far as fundraising. We’ve been between $400,000-$500,000 a year in revenue for 20 years, so this year we should be on track to hit at least $535,000.”

The event was sold out, with over 500 participants ready to play to win one of the designer bags from brands including Kate Spade, Coach, Michael Kors, Patricia Nash and Tony Burch. The bags were donated by businesses and community members.

Sponsors included CPC Multi-Specialty Group, Drinkard Development, Senior Benefits of North Alabama, Next Home Limitless Realty and Premier Bank of the South.
